Frequently Asked Questions
Last Update: December 29, 2025
Is Una Vida currently accepting clothing donations?
Yes! We kindly ask for donations that are washed, in-season, and can be worn with pride: no holes or stains. Since the Community Closet is CLOSED for winter break, please drop them off during OPEN HOURS at our new Community Partners location, Bow N Arrow Clothing, at the Petaluma Outlet Mall. They are open every day from 11 AM to 6 PM, next to the square fountain and across from Claire’s Essentials.
Please do not leave any donations outside when the Community Closet or Bow N Arrow is closed. We both rent our spaces and need to be respectful. We no longer accept donations at Bond Avenue.
The Community Closet is located on the left side of the United Methodist Church chapel at 410 D Street in Petaluma. We will reopen on January 8th with our winter hours: Every Thursday and Saturday from 2 PM to 5 PM. Thank you!
Is Una Vida currently accepting bags and/or food donations?
Please hold that thought! We are in the process of moving locations and will work out details for food donations soon. Thank you so much for your support!
Does Una Vida issue receipts for my in-kind donation?
Yes! You may pick up a receipt during your drop off at the Community Closet or our food distribution. You may also request a receipt by emailing April Lofgren, Una Vida’s Director of Development & Communications, at april@una-vida.org.
Do you accept other donations besides food, clothing or shoes?
Due to limited space, we are unable to accept other items at this time.
Can I donate grocery bags?
Yes! We would be grateful if you could take the time to flatten the bags before you donate them to our food distributions. Please hold on to the thought for the time being though as we work out details for accepting donations at our new location. Thank you!
Does Una Vida offer other types of assistance beyond food, clothing, and household items?
As a small nonprofit operating on a limited budget and powered primarily by volunteers, Una Vida focuses on providing free food, clothing, and specially arranged household items to the public. We are unable to offer additional services beyond these essential resources.
